The Dodge Grand Caravan just celebrated its 30th anniversary, which of course requires a little celebrating. In order to do so, Chrysler decided to find a way to commemorate the success of the model while also giving back to the community. Let's take a closer look at the exciting event that took place.
Since the Grand Caravan is popular amongst drivers in Canada where the vehicle is also manufactured, Chrysler thought it would be fitting to bring the celebrations there. It teamed up with Canstruction, a nonprofit organization that works to spread awareness and raise money for hunger and poverty stricken areas around the world, and also focuses on the importance of community service.
The task that Chrysler set out to accomplish, was the construction of a life-size replica of a 2014 Dodge Caravan model using only canned goods. Thanks to the help of 30 local volunteers, the statue was assembled in Toronto, Ontario. Over 10 hours and 30,000 canned goods later, and the 'Can'avan' masterpiece was complete!
After it was taken down, all of the food used to make the display was donated to the Daily Bread Food Bank. This organization supports meal programs and food banks all across Toronto with its donations. Not only did Chrysler successfully pay tribute to the model that has been such an important part of the new Dodge lineup for three decades, but it also reached out to the community through its creative way of helping others.
