Recently, Jeep announced plans to launch the first Jeep Grand Cherokee plug-in hybrid SUV, the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe. It will join the Jeep Wrangler 4xe as the two plug-in hybrid vehicles in the Jeep lineup.

From what we understand, it will feature the same hybrid as the Wrangler 4xe, with multiple electric drive modes to improve efficiency. In addition, it features regenerative braking that can store energy plus bring the vehicle to a halt using a brake pedal.

In terms of performance, we understand that the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee will offer a hybrid powertrain with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that will produce 375 horsepower 470-pound feet of torque. Moreover, it will offer up to 22 miles in the electric range.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe is the first to showcase the new 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee design. Furthermore, it will carry subtle design elements with a little blue "e" on the charging door along with the "4xe" logo on the back tailgate.

Production for the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee will be conducted at the Jeep Stellantis Mack Assembly Plant in Detroit, Michigan. It will be available for sale at some point in the near future.
